The first mapped cave in the world, Veterani Cave, was inhabited over 4,000 years ago.

Primitive humans used it for shelter, the Dacians for worshiping Zamolxis, the Turks and Austrians for military purposes, and today, the cave is visited by a few tourists in search of rare souvenirs, while others seek the legendary treasures of Maria Theresa or Tsar Obrenović of Serbia.

The interior of the cave remains, even today, a source of legends, stories, and unique experiences.

To add credibility to the fact that Veterani Cave is still an inexhaustible source of stories and legends, the word "KAROL - 1992" is written in red letters on its walls.

When the waters of the Danube are low, at the entrance to the Small Cazanele, the remains of a car can be seen.

It is Karol's car.

In 1992, he dug in the cave to discover treasures, and in 1994, when he returned for the same purpose, due to still unknown reasons, his car plunged into the waters of the river. Karol, a Romanian who had lived in Australia for over 20 years, lost his life on the spot.

He never got the chance to dig into the earth enriched by the blood and bones of his ancestors.

He perished without finding the cursed gold.
